Meet Good Neighbours, the UK Duo Sparking a Nostalgic Flame With Their Debut Single "Home"

One of the worst things I can think of is when a track gets teased on TikTok only to have a release date months away. Though I understand patience is a virtue, I am nothing if not ravenous for new music to satiate my neverending desire to consume. Thankfully, after stumbling across a band teasing their debut single earlier this month, I was elated to learn that my wait wouldn’t be a long one.

Earlier this month, UK duo Good Neighbours made their grand introduction with their debut single “Home,” a tender and triumphant song guaranteed to make you homesick. Between the track's explosive bass signals and impassioned vocals, “Home” evokes the same energy that we’ve all been chasing since the highs of being on Tumblr in 2014 or hearing Grouplove’s “Tongue Tied” for the first time. Both nostalgic and forward-thinking, Good Neighbours has a clear affinity for clever songwriting and pulling on the listeners’ heartstrings (and I love it).

Though “Home” may be Good Neighbour’s debut track together, band members Oli Fox and Scott Verrill are far from novices in music. Hailing from Essex, Oli Fox is a skilled songwriter who made waves in 2018 when he supported Sigrid on her UK tour. Scott Verrill, however, is from South London, where his solo artist project kwassa (inspired by that Vampire Weekend track) played Glastonbury years ago. In 2024, the two burgeoning stars collide in sacred harmony to give listeners a refreshingly new take on indie-rock.

With more music and collaborations hopefully not far on the horizon, Good Neighbours is wasting no time capturing our attention this year.
