Mike Nelson grew up singing in the Anglican Cathedral Choir and the Liverpool Kop, traveling across Europe to perform at cathedrals and concert halls. With his talent and inspiration from bands like The Beatles and Arcade Fire, he decided to pursue his own musical career, becoming BANNERS. In 2015, BANNERS signed to Universal Music Group's label, Island Records. In January 2016, he released his debut EP, Banners, which includes the trailer song for the 2015 FIFA video game, "Shine a Light". BANNERS' song "Half Light", was featured on the E! series The Royals in early 2016, and has since been released as a single in June 2016. In late 2017, the UK-based crooner released his long-awaited sophomore EP Empires on Fire along with a music video for the project's hit, lead single "Someone To You".
September 27, 2016 Moving away from the piano and soft mood of his last album, OTW artist BANNERS is back with a newfound confidence and rock & roll vibe in his latest single, “Into The Storm.”
