Indie-Pop / R&B / Soul
Although downtempo R&B artist Cautious Clay has only released two original songs, they both pack as much of a punch as the boxer whose name we’re reminded of.
Brooklyn based singer, songwriter, and producer Josh Karpeh, aka Cautious Clay, turned a lot of heads in the music industry with his debut single, “Cold War.” Prior to the release of “Cold War,” the singer only had one cover and one remix on his Spotify channel. Nevertheless, “Cold War” has racked up over 1.5 million streams on Spotify since its September release, rather impressive for a debut and indicative of the rising artist's trajectory. Cautious Clay followed up with “Joshua Tree,” which provided a further glimpse into the sophisticated artistry he is capable of. With a pop/R&B sound at the core of his music, Cautious Clay sets himself apart with the addition of signature distorted vocals, electronic elements, and even touches of hip-hop. Having a quality sound that surpasses quantity, Cautious Clay even landed a feature on French producer Petit Biscuit’s debut album Presence. His original work, remixes, and features are all exciting precedents for what is to come from the new artist.
November 14, 2017 Although “Sunset Lover” rapidly launched the French producer into the spotlight, with Presence, the now 18-year-old artist has firmly established himself in the electronic realm.
