Julia Michaels has been an invisible yet inescapable presence on pop radio. In the recent years she's penned Justin Bieber's hit, "Sorry," Hailee Steinfeld's "Love Myself," Selena Gomez's "Hands To Myself," and Tove Lo's "Close," among many others. Born in Iowa and raised near Los Angeles, Michaels was home-schooled as she and her older sister pursued music. She was self-taught on piano and never trained as a vocalist.
At 17, she had landed music for MTV's The Hills, promos for The View, and the theme song for the popular Disney Channel series, Austin & Ally. Michaels launched her signing career appearing on songs like Jason Derulo's "Trade Hearts," and Zedd's "Straight into the Fire." In 2016, she performed at the closing ceremony of the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, alongside Norwegian DJ and producer, Kygo.
Following various guest appearances, Michaels released her debut single, “Issues” as a lead artist in January of 2017. The track is a confessional down-tempo love song and is on track to be one of the greatest pop singles of the year.
April 13, 2017 When Hailee Ritcey penned a thank you note to her favorite band, she didn’t quite expect what happened next.
