Middle Kids takes the best from both ends of the musical spectrum, merging together Bandcamp's iconic lofi sounds with production and instrumentation from some clearly talented musicians. Emerging from Sydney, the dream pop trio consists of classically trained piano player Hannah Joy, multi-instrumentalist and producer Tim Fitz, and Sydney Conservatorium of Music in Jazz Performance graduate Harry Day. Unquestionably not lacking in musical skill, the trio quickly garnered the attention of fans and major musical icons alike. Their debut single, "Edge of Town," was premiered by the infamous Elton John on his Beats 1 radio, as he proclaimed himself to be a fan of the band. Middle Kids would go on to release their debut EP Middle Kids EP, which featured tracks recorded in Parliament Studios, as well as tracks recorded in Fitz and Joy's garage. 2017 established Middle Kids as a band to watch even further, with performances at SXSW and the Great Escape Festivals, in addition to an extensive tour supporting Coldplay.
March 2, 2018 The Melbourne trio was described as feminist rock by Pitchfork, but Camp Cope’s anecdotes, focus, and embodiment go beyond labels.
