We’ve all been through it–a painfully unbalanced love affair. One party grows committed and attached, while the other remains aloof and remiss. NYC Singer-songwriter Dominic Florio explores these feelings in “Wait” from his upcoming debut album.
Upon first listen of its soaring synths and bright crescendos, you might expect “Wait” to be an uplifting pop song. A deeper look reveals FLORIO’s honest, relatable lyrics depicting the critical point in a blossoming relationship when one might retreat from vulnerability while the other continues to avidly pursue something real. He expanded,
“Wait is the turning point of the record. One person is attached, and the other seems distant. Maybe afraid of realizing the seriousness of the relationship. But this is from the point of view of the person who is being left out to dry. And we’ve all been there. So while one person searches for a spark, the other quietly takes their path out that they’ve had all along, in some cases built because of insecurities and fear.”
