We initially discovered Geoffroy in 2015, when the French-Canadian singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist unveiled his debut EP, Soaked In Gold. In March 2017, he released his Polaris Music Prize long-listed debut full-length, Coastline, which expanded on an enchanting foundation of organically-produced electronic elements and James Blake-esque vocals.
In late 2017, we invited Geoffroy to perform for our Saja Sessions showcase, at which point we were instantaneously blown away by the mesmerizing live manifestation of his indie-electronic sound. As he aptly put it, he effectively creates a “base of electronic music with organic elements on top” in an effort to “keep some detail and some emotion throughout the songs.”
We clearly couldn’t get enough, so we invited Geoffroy back in January for our first Baño Flaco showcase of the year. Set poolside at the legendary Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the night included an eclectic serving of talent, including rapper Harry Mack and funky duo B00TY. With the addition of a drummer to give the three-man band an even fuller sound, Geoffroy emerged as the headliner of the night. Watch their beautiful performance of “Coastline” below:
