Sasha Sloan Wrestles with Her Emotions in New Double Release, “Normal” & “Fall”

On Feb. 2, rising singer-songwriter Sasha Sloan returned with two impressive songs as she looks to build the momentum from her popular 2017 songs “Runaway” and “Ready Yet.” The relatability of Sloan’s lyrics earned her a name to watch going into the new year, and she kicks off her 2018 with “Normal” and “Fall” – both of which place her honest, heartfelt songwriting on full display.

“Normal” sees Sasha yearning to fit in with the crowd, behaving out of character as she sings “I know this isn’t like me / I just want people to like me.” The song opens with simple yet tender guitar strumming, before breaking into a light groove that soothes the ears. It’s a danceable track that’s not without genuine emotion, making it well-suited for a variety of moods.

Sloan’s second release, “Fall,” is much more downtempo and somber, as she apologizes for past mistakes in a relationship while begging for the second chance that may or may not come. Delicate piano keys and orchestral arrangements add an earnest feel to her declaration, “I’m ready to fall in love again / I’m ready to call you up again.” She shows her vocal range on the bridge that follows the second chorus, acknowledging that her former lover might have moved on but refusing to accept it.

Listen to the two new songs below, and expect Sasha Sloan to make plenty of noise moving forward this year. This February, she heads out on tour with indie rock band Joywave – see all dates below:
