Charlie Burg may write music that runs the gamut from rainy day lullabies to funk-injected party jams, but one thing is for certain - each and every song is utterly captivating. Based out of Syracuse, NY, the young artist cites his earliest influences as soul icons like Marvin Gaye and Al Green. Borrowing elements of these classic vocalist, Burg combines their raw emotive power with his innovative songwriting style to create music that has a life of its own.
As you may have deduced from his eclectic style, Burg embarks on few creative ventures without intention. For example, much of his work draws inspiration from the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson, esteemed transcendentalist poet of the 1800s, giving his music a sophisticated-but-modern sound. In addition, his EP Three, Fever, released in January 2019, follows two previous works titled One, Violet and Two, Moonlight. Though each work holds up as a standalone piece, listening to each in succession reveals a larger, ever-evolving whole that is Charlie Burg's repertoire. Combining the intellectualism of Vampire Weekend and the raw danceability of Toro y Moi, Burg is certainly an artist to keep your eyes on.
