Gabriel Garzón-Montano is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with a progressive, often breezy, and slightly psychedelic sound firmly rooted in soul and funk. While attending State University of New York at Purchase, he was in a funk band called Mokaad. The same year that the band independently released an EP entitled Booty, Garzón-Montano recorded a set of solo material. Deeply unsatisfied with the results, he kept the songs to himself for several months but eventually uploaded them to his SoundCloud page.

In late 2014, Garzón-Montano toured Europe as the opening act for Lenny Kravitz, father of friend and former classmate Zoë Kravitz. In 2015, he played festivals such as Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo. He opened for Glass Animals, and headlined tours in the US and Europe. Drake sampled Gabriel's song "6 8" to create the song “Jungle” on Drake’s album If You're Reading This It's Too Late. In 2016 , he opened Mayer Hawthorne's Man About Town US tour.
