Ruston Kelly moved multiple times during his childhood due to his father’s job at a paper mill. At the age of 14, his passion for competitive figure skating placed him with a host family in Michigan. It was during this time Kelly found another passion-- songwriting. When he turned 17, he moved into his sister’s house in Nashville where he realized his pure talent of telling elaborate stories through music. In 2013, he signed a publishing deal with BMG Nashville and became a notorious songwriter after he penned Tim McGraw’s hit “Nashville Without You.”

In 2017, Kelly grew himself both in his music career and personal life. In previous years, Kelly performed in a band named Elmwood, but in April of 2017 he released Halloween, his first album as a solo artist. Later that year, Kelly married country superstar Kacey Musgraves after they had met at the Bluebird Cafe, an esteemed Nashville venue. Since then, Kelly has been a supportive husband and has also taken the time to further his own career. He released Dying Star which is his second full length album, and has headlined his own shows around the country.
