Splash House is returning to Palm Springs on August 11 for yet another weekend of quality music, desert heat, inflatable swans, cold drinks, and a seriously good time. The lineup is stacked with an array of talented artists that will definitely have you on your feet (or splashing in the pool) – presenting our picks for artists that you CAN-NOT miss out on.
We can’t hide our excitement for Jay Prince, the rapper and producer from East London, whose fervor, style, and laid-back vibe will have you enthralled. He has been compared his flow to idols Kendrick Lamar and Isaiah Rashad, but his sound and beats are one-of-a-kind. On the rise in the UK and US hip-hop scene, Jay Prince is most known for “Polaroids” and “Father, Father,” but also known for his collaborations with artists like Aminé and Mura Masa. His energy and unparalleled sound will definitely have you head-bobbin’ along to every verse.
For those who don’t know of Monte Booker’s work, we suggest you head to his set to hear a unique, melodic blend of hip-hop, R&B, soul, and electronic sounds. This 20-year-old producer is most known for his single “Mona Lisa” and “Kolors (feat. Smino)” on the Soulection White Label. He gets most of his inspiration from Flying Lotus and jazz music, but his sounds can be best compared to Masego, Goldlink, and Sango.
The only thing we like better than the name of this electronic music producer is his music (apparently his name comes from a freestyle dance move his father invented?!). Flamingosis, like Monte, also draws influences from Flying Lotus, but says that J Dilla, vintage funk, and disco are heavy influences as well. This New Jersey producer, beatboxer, and DJ will definitely have you groovin’ in the pool to his soulful, electro-funk beats. Listen to “Football Head,” and “Finesse (Hey Baby)” to get yourself hyped for weekend two.
Missing those Euro-house vibes from when you went abroad? American electronic musician, producer, and DJ Le Youth will fill in your missing void with his tracks that give a modern twist on ‘90s house music and R&B. The LA-based producer first gained attention with his track “C O O L,” and will definitely win over your attention at Splash House with his chill house beats.
What’s better than Canadian bacon? Canadian producer, songwriter, and DJ Jacques Greene who has collaborated with artists across various styles, including The XX, Flume, Tinashe, Radiohead, and Jimmy Edgar. He has grown more prominent in the music scene with his EP releases, live touring, and more recently with the release of his debut album Feel Infinite. His sound combines drums, synthesizers, and vocal samples to create a surprisingly complex listening experience.
