Aaron Childs’ “Tangerine” Is As Delicious As the Fruit Itself

New GODMODE signee Aaron Childs may be known as the son of GRAMMY winning jazz musician Billy Childs, but his new release proves he's be more than capable of making a name for himself. Aptly titled "Tangerine," the song is the aural equivalent to biting into a chunk of fresh fruit on a hot summer day, refreshing the ears with lush melodies and waterfalling progressions.

"Tangerine is about the limbo you find yourself in when a relationship ends and is transitioning into what it will become," Childs said about the song. On the chorus he ponders the question "Am I worthy of your love?," as his voice blends into the distorted soundscape behind him.

Throughout the song, Childs sings of a "bittersweet" lover, one who he simply can't seem to get off his mind. The gripping rhythm harkens of dancehall, and it holds the song together as the instrumentation wanders in and out of focus on its own accord.

Childs' fellow GODMODE signee yaeji has lined herself up for success this year, and it's safe to expect Childs to follow in her footsteps. Check out the new song "Tangerine" below:
