Anna Wise Takes A Lighthearted Feminist Stance In Music Video For “Go”

Anna Wise received a Grammy for her collaborative work on Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly, but with the recent release of her debut EP Feminine: Act I, she is emerging into the spotlight as a solo artist. The latest from Anna Wise is the music video for “Go.”

Wise brings her feminist views front and center, but in a lighthearted manner. In the video directed by Emma Kanter, the singer takes us on an adventure as she rollerblades through Prospect Park, clad in a nun getup and Adidas track pants.

Wise told W Magazine:

Even though these battles that women and people are fighting against the system every day, they’re serious. Sometimes it’s so absurd that you have to laugh at it.

Despite the comical nature of the video, the Grammy Award winning musician owns her independence in the cunning track: “I know that I will come out alive without you by my side, so I’m letting go.”

We’ll be watching for more of Wise’s witty takes on the world. Pick up your copy of Feminine: Act I here and keep up with Anna Wise.
