Armors Tries To Keep Feelings On The Down-Low In “I Don’t Wanna Know”

Sometimes not knowing someone’s true feelings can protect you from being disappointed and heartbroken. Armors captures this concept perfectly in the energetic and catchy new song, “I Don’t Wanna Know.”

Laced with explosive instrumental breaks and vibrant vocal chants, “I Don’t Wanna Know” keeps the situation cordial and all feelings locked away. The song is powered by a constant synth line casually interrupted by chaotic drums and supported by a heavy baritone saxophone. The lead singer, Olen Kittlesen, reinforces the desire to stay in the dark on his friend’s feelings with lyrics like “I’d rather stay in love with you, than just be friends forever,” and “Maybe you don’t like me, and it all amounts to nothing.” When it came to writing this song, Sam Beresford remarks:

“‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ is a song about loving someone who doesn’t love you back. As we made the record with our collaborator Ryan. Olen was relentlessly made fun of for months on end for being in love with a girl who didn’t love him back. ‘IDWK’ is the product of Olen being tormented intentionally by Ryan & myself and unintentionally by the girl.“

“I Don’t Wanna Know” revels in being blissfully unaware of another’s feelings. Loving someone who doesn’t love you back is a sickening feeling, but at least you can protect yourself in a false reality where you’ll never know the truth.

The Orange County-based duo is comprised of Olen Kittelsen and Sam Beresford, who met while attending nearby suburban high schools. Kittelsen and Beresford further teamed up with writer/producer Ryan Spraker to make a collection of songs that represent them, including their many flaws, few strengths, and countless insecurities as human beings. This new single “I Don’t Wanna Know” is the precursor to their new EP due in early 2019.
