Of the hundreds of bands in this world who pray to 1960s-era revivalist rock for music-making inspiration, England’s Temples is exercising a stronghold over all the forerunners. And for good reason. Not since Tame Impala’s sensationally crafted and well-timed Lonerism has a band recalled the Beatles in such a distinctly resonant way that won’t make you roll your eyes. Just listen to their 2012 single “Shelter Song” and you’ll know immediately what we mean. But Temples is definitely not mulling around a well-established revolutionary sound; they’re testing its boundaries, little bits at a time. Check out their upcoming album Sun Structures, the whole thing is available for advance stream at NPR now.
