In between working 12-hour days at three jobs, Chris LaRocca managed to both fund a batch of new music and land upon a sound that is as ambitious as it is unassuming. The result was the self-release of his debut single “Closer,” which received widespread acclaim from the likes of Zane Lowe, FADER, and more. It would prove to be the first step towards the Canadian artist’s debut EP Voila, which marked a notable highpoint in LaRocca’s career and continued musical evolution.
Now, two odd years since self-releasing that debut single that started it all, LaRocca has returned with a sophomore EP that is just as, if not more, impressive than the last. Saudade, LaRocca’s latest EP, is a seven-track offering from one of Canada’s most promising artists, blending soulful R&B with an adventurous musical outlook. We had the pleasure of inviting this promising artist to perform “Yardsale,” the opening track to Saudade, as part of our latest Northside Sessions, and it was nothing short of a treat.
