Clairo and SG Lewis Create the Ultimate Summer Collaboration with “Better”

Viral sensation Clairo and esteemed producer SG Lewis is the collaboration that this summer needed. Their new single "Better" is warm, sunny, and delivers a feeling of reckless youth while maintaining that oh-so-smooth feel Clairo is known for. The overall sound of "Better" is a bit of a departure for Clairo, as it features flavors of disco and pop, but the track perfectly highlights her satiny vocals before ending with tastefully stripped down synths and drums.

Clairo took off with her 2017 singles "Pretty Girl" and "Flaming Hot Cheetos" each amassing over 15 million plays on Spotify alone. The video for "Flaming Hot Cheetos" is also worth a watch, as it features the fresh faced 19-year-old dancing with a bunch of human-sized Hot Cheetos–looking ridiculously fierce as she does so. Both songs appear on her debut EP, diary 001, which is an R&B-driven dream pop concoction featuring collabs from Rejjie Snow and Danny L Harle. The EP charted in Spotify's Global Top 50 and made it into 14 different territories of "New Music Friday" playlists.

Her most recent release with SG Lewis falls more in the vein of energetic pop than her previous releases, all the while retaining her husky and relaxing signature vocals.

SG Lewis and Clairo have the kind of chemistry that can't be faked. An instant click between artists like the one that resulted in "Better" is rare, and Clairo describes the collaboration fondly, saying

"Sam is one of the most talented producers I know. We met the same day that we made this song, and just clicked instantly. 'Better' is one of the first real steps I've made into Pop music and this collab feels like a match made in heaven!"

There are plenty of opportunities coming up to see Clairo, if you are lucky enough to snag a ticket. She just finished up a North American arena tour with Dua Lipa, and is kicking off her sold-out headlining tour this July. She'll be making 18 stops around the country, including Lollapalooza and Mo Pop Festival, before venturing overseas to deliver more of her velvety vocals to Spain, the UK, Mexico and Brazil.
