Fans of Brooklyn duo argonaut&wasp have something to celebrate– Ones To Watch is here to premiere the lovable pair's funky new track "Prove It To You." A groovy blend of the band members' individual musical instincts, with Trey's experience in rock and Theo's electronic DJ/production inclinations, "Prove It To You" serves as an irresistible introduction to the next direction in the evolution of argonaut&wasp.
Spacey, futuristic electronic beats open the new track alongside jingly electric guitar strums. As a thumping bass kicks in, the song's lyrics begin with, "Call me out for changing my mind / Unnecessary situations have me hanging on to hope for a kind of change in heart." Perhaps reflective of a larger underlying theme throughout their lives, "Prove It To You" at least immediately addresses the chemistry and tension between people as their relationship changes pace. "Can you get a little closer? / All I feel is our heartbeats racing / Let's take this too far / Without you I am left in the dark," repeats throughout each chorus, further helping listeners envision the dance floor as the perfect setting for everything argonaut&wasp. The funky duo shared,
“‘Prove It To You’ explores the loneliness of independence and faces the insecurities that arise when trying to go your own way.”
The single, in addition to more new music, will continue to be released on the duo's own developing record label, Bang! Jango Records. argonaut&wasp's fusion of indie electronica and funky pop has earned them hundreds of thousands of streams to date, mainly from standout singles alone (and a Rolling Stones cover of "Beast of Burden"). Sold-out NYC hometown shows ensued as fans have flocked to see the duo live. Spending some time lately in the studio to crank out new music, argonauat&wasp are now releasing "Prove It To You" as a first taste of what's to come from those recent sessions.
A second single, "Body Sensations," was premiered today on Earmilk & is set to release tomorrow, Oct. 27. Be the first to check out argonaut&wasp's new track "Prove It To You" ahead of its official release here:
