A comforting, much-needed reminder to take life one day at a time, “Today’s A New Day” is the latest video from Common Kings, featuring ¡MayDay!. Inspired by pop, reggae, R&B, and rock influences like Bob Marley, Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind & Fire to name a few, Common Kings are shining a welcome light amidst all the chaos of modern-day society to help us find our way back to what truly matters.
Most of the Common Kings band members were born in the South Pacific and grew up in Orange County, CA. Surrounded by vibrant, music-loving families, they fused together their fun-loving attitudes and innate talent, driven to create upbeat, inspiring music. This core, wild passion immediately jumps out in “Today’s A New Day,” a refreshingly light yet warm, familiar-feeling song you just can’t help but sway along to.
Their collaboration with ¡MayDay! will hopefully draw even more fans to the uplifting new video, as the Tech N9ne’s Strange Music-signed, Miami hip-hop group has already amassed over 40 million collective Youtube plays. Adding an extra dimension to the new track, ¡MayDay! blends in guest vocals and hip-hop style production effortlessly with the laid-back, beachy vibe of “Today’s A New Day.”
Common Kings shared their hope that the new video might be able to touch the lives of those watching:
“We wrote ‘Today’s A New Day’ in hopes of bringing some good vibes and positive energy to this world especially with all the negativity going on nowadays.
We wanted our music video to show how you can bring those positive vibes and good energy to others throughout the day. Uncle Bob [Marley] was right when he said, ‘One good thing about music: when it hits you, you feel no pain.’ We hope this song and video puts a smile on your face as you go about your day.”
Manifesting success with their standout positive outlook and upbeat spirit, congratulations are in order for Common Kings - the band’s Feb. 2017 debut studio LP Lost In Paradise has just been Grammy-nominated for Best Reggae Album, an amazing feat.
Understanding the value of connecting with fans through live performance, Common Kings have also provided direct tour support for major artists, like Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 World Experience and Meghan Trainor’s Untouchable Tour. Currently, you can catch Common Kings on the Broken Crowns tour with Matisyahu along the east coast until Dec. 23.
