EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Groove On to the Silky Sound of Guitarist Knox White’s Debut Single, “You’ve Been My Girl”

Los Angeles-based artist Knox White is ready to emerge, and his first offering suggests that the talented guitarist has plenty to contribute. Ones to Watch is happy to premiere his debut single, "You've Been My Girl," which contains the kind of dreamy, late-night funk that sets the soundtrack for effortless grooving. Highlighted with beautiful guitar riffs that add instrumentation to the synthesized, indie-pop influenced production, the song gives a glimpse into what we should expect on White's debut EP, expected to release later this year.

Knox White initially moved to Los Angeles as a bartender with dreams of becoming a musician, and caught several big breaks when some of music's most influential names came into his bar - including legends Lionel Richie and Paul McCartney. Richie became one of his regular customers, and offered the aspiring artist plenty of advice on the importance of staying humble and true to yourself. Eventually becoming somewhat of an uncle to White, Richie's stories of tour life struck a chord and strengthened his belief that music was the career for him.

Eventually Knox White relocated to New Orleans in an effort to reignite his creation process, and quickly found work as a guitarist in a local church. Naturally, his network substantially expanded in the city rich with musical history and talent, and he began performing jazz, gospel, and other modern covers at clubs and other venues around the city. Now back in the City of Angels, White retained all that he learned during his trip, influencing his sound and inspiring his debut track, "You've Been My Girl."

"I'm forced to walk alone, I sit at home / I don't have you anymore," he croons in the first verse, singing to a desired lover he just can't get out of his mind. With a measured yet soothing voice, White expresses his true feelings throughout, while dealing with a woman who torments him with her indecision.

"When it comes to love we all have that one person we come back to, no matter what," White explained about the song. The passion he pours into the song is evident and only accentuated by the throwback, chillwave production that makes the song so irresistible.

Stream his new single below, and be sure to keep Knox White on your radar as he looks to put out more music over the course of 2018.
