The fundamental beauty of music lies in its inherent ability to pull you from a perhaps disagreeable reality and transport you to an alternate dream state of your choice. That beauty is the very essence of Jo&Me's brand new "Daydream," an imaginative declaration of passion and longing packaged into a captivating sound that refuses to be pigeonholed into any particular genre.
It may come as a surprise that "Daydream" is only Jo&Me's second-ever release, following their highly-regarded cover of Drake's "Too Good." The Stockholm-based duo comprising Madelene and Jonathan met while studying at one of Sweden's esteemed music schools and quickly earned praise from legendary songwriter Max Martin, followed by a management deal in Los Angeles.
"Daydream" is just the start of what's set to be a fruitful career for Jo&Me. Madelene's ethereal vocals are reminiscent of greats like London Grammar, Oh Wonder, and Jessie Ware, as she entrancingly sings of her genuine devotion to a special love interest. Meanwhile, Jonathan provides the ideal backdrop with a dynamic, midtempo production style that exudes power in its subtlety.
Madelene gave us more insight on the story behind "Daydream,"
“'Daydream' is about the very first moment when you think you’re falling for someone. In this case, it’s about falling for a friend of mine who was with someone else, and I walked around in a daydream because I couldn’t face what was happening in real life.”
Jo&Me expect to release another single in 2017, followed by a full EP in 2018. In the meantime, your exclusive stream of "Daydream" is below, ahead of its official release on June 20.
