Indie-pop band Little Monarch has picked up steam on the strength of their 2016 self-titled EP, and today they're unveiling the music video for the project's opening track, "No Matter What." If 17 million Spotify streams is any indication, the song's airy, easygoing energy deeply resonated with fans, and the accompanying visual certainly parallels the feeling of the song.
Shot with a vintage, lo-fi treatment, the video sees Little Monarch enjoying everything that Southern California nature has to offer, juxtaposing scenes of the beach with shots of themselves trekking through the wilderness. The group had this to say about the visual:
"For the video we simply wanted to capture the carefree, sun kissed feeling of the song. Those days when you wake up and all you can think of doing is driving towards the ocean with your friends, and letting adventure unfold around you. So many of us feel the tug of our inner dreamer pulling us closer to nature yet rarely do we give ourselves permission to follow it’s call… even just for a day. We write a lot of our music with that in mind – songs that hold space for us and listeners to get away from whatever might be dragging us down. We shot the video in Malibu, a short drive from our studio in Venice. We’re so proud of 'No Matter What' and excited to show the world the new music we’ve been working on."
This summer, Little Monarch will be hitting the road in support of Penguin Prison. Check out their new video below, and mark your calendar if they're coming to your area!
