Hit the East Coast Tour Circuit With Indie-Pop Wonders Eighty Ninety [TOUR DIARY]

image

Eighty Ninety is a duo true to their name, in that their distinctive style of minimalistic indie pop escapes simple classification. The project of brothers Abner and Harper James, they first struck upon viral success with their debut single “Three Thirty.” The hypnotic ode to a past love currently sits at over 16-million plays on Spotify and would soon be followed-up by their acclaimed debut EP, Elizabeth. Over the course of a single EP and a handful of singles, Eighty Ninety has personified their namesake, offering up a sonic portrayal of the decades, radio stations, and liquor proofs that went into defining them.

This fall saw Eighty Ninety joining Savoir Adore on tour, so we caught up with the duo to get the inside glimpse on what life on the road looks like. Join along as we hit the east coast tour circuit with one of indie pop music’s most promising acts, Eighty Ninety.

Is it really a tour if you don’t have a shot of the drummer looking cool at a gas station?

Right now our production design is pretty much limited to our “Eighty Ninety” kick drum head and Abner’s big and/or floral shirts, but one day we hope to have lighting a lot like this

Meeting new people has been the best part of the tour

There’s a lot of downtime to decide where the coolest place to stand would be in between soundcheck and the show. Shoutout to our photographer Patrick for getting creative in Boston
