Psychedelic pop outfit LEISURE crafts music that is as sweet and smooth as molasses. The five-piece band from Auckland, New Zealand draws from psychedelic rock, funk, and ‘90s R&B to deliver a sound that feels distinctively new yet familiar. It can be heard throughout their critically-acclaimed self-titled debut album and felt in their mesmerizing live show. Currently working towards a highly-anticipated sophomore album, due out next year, the band has been teasing new music, including the sensual and slow-burning “Falling.”
We caught up with LEISURE, following a series of sold-out shows in their native New Zealand, that made us wish we had racked up more frequent fliers before then, to see if we could catch an inside glimpse into what exactly does down at their spellbinding live shows. We were not left disappointed as LEISURE took us to New Zealand and let us experience life with them onstage in 10 behind-the-scenes photos.

Jordan leading the way - is it even a show without a crowd clap along?
Just before we play we like to throw good vibes at each other and try get everyone on the same buzz. The only way I can tell this is pre-show is Jordan biting his fingernails lol
Jaden’s pedals. Simple and sweet. The Space Echo is an amazing effects unit, our friend Sam (BOYBOY) used to have one of the real deal RE-201’s and we became obsessed with it.
We commissioned some art from Ken Griffen for some shirts. We loved it so much that we wanted it bigger - so we made some beach throws for the upcoming season.
Jaden collecting his on-stage refreshments with me behind probably trying to not die from hayfever.
Jordan hired some last minute bongos for the occasion. Safe to say they are now on our Xmas shopping list.

Teamwork. Jaden and Jordan harmonizing in the glow and haze. Unlike many groups, we don’t have a lead singer, opting to share the honor amongst the band, song by song.
Crouching tiger. Tom sinking into the vibe and getting low in the pink hues.
LEISURE bathing in purple. Suren Unka’s lighting gave the show an extra special magic touch.
Our guitar hero Djeisian shredding sonics in the swampy emerald tones.
