Aaron Miller of BASECAMP at It’s A School Night!
What. A. Monday.
Los Angeles got a double dose of Ones To Watch goodness last night with two featured artists playing in town. First up was CHVRCHES at their sold-out show at The Wiltern. Fresh off night one of their North American tour, our favorite electronic rockers from Glasgow absolutely stunned the local audience, lifting the best moments off their debut album, The Bones Of What You Believe - AKA all of it - and delivering it in a vibrant, glimmering live set. Singer Lauren Mayberry was magnetic, poised and fearless in her performance, as seen in these fine images snapped by fans.

Of course, those fans were prepped for CHVRCHES with a killer opening act - Nashville electronic trio BASECAMP, who made their L.A. debut opening up the night. The general audience consensus at The Wiltern? Heavily impressed. In the words of one CHVRCHES fan, @jennifersungahko, “The singer’s voice is like heavy cream butter. So smooth…”
Right after dropping their energy-packed set, BASECAMP jetted over to neighboring Hollywood to play an intimate show at the smaller Bardot lounge, hosted by It’s A School Night! We caught up with the group there, who were quick to sing the praises of The Wiltern audience and touring mates CHVRCHES. Not that we had that much time to chat, as the group had to hustle onto their next performance. Singer Aaron Miller was all smiles for the School Night crowd as he unleashed his velvety, brooding vocals atop a heady gust of percussion, bass and synthesizers concocted by his indefatigable bandmates, Aaron Harmon and Jordan Reyes. For just under half an hour, the band mystified the gathered crowd, playing songs from their self-titled EP that dropped in August. Watch a clip of their performance below and check out our pictures from the show!
