Our latest Northside Sessions sees us highlighting longtime fixture of the Montreal arts scene, Lou Phelps. One of Canada’s leading purveyors of club-rap bangers, Phelps first began making music in 2011 alongside his brother KAYTRANADA, with whom he formed the future-rap group The Celestics. Phelps has made massive strides since his humble beginnings, artistically and professionally. Releasing his debut project, 001: Experiments, in 2017, the critically-acclaimed project would earn the aspiring artist a nomination for Canada’s coveted JUNO Awards for “Rap Record of the Year.”
Fresh off the heels of his sophomore album, 002 / LOVE ME, we invited the club-rap purveyor to perform the Kaytranada-produced, standout single “Come Inside.” And be sure to stick around as we delve into how Phelps first got into music by covering Pharrell, his hopes for the future of Canada’s music scene, and so much more.
