Love comes in all shapes and sizes, but there remains one universal constant about every one of its infinite manifestations: love feels like home. No matter what your concept of "home" entails, we can all relate to those notions of comfort, belonging, and ultimately, happiness through love. Caroline Pennell captures that indescribable feeling in her latest single, "Drive Me Home," as well as its visual translation in the accompanying music video.
Pennell got her start as a top 8 contestant on NBC's The Voice, where she showed the world her vocal prowess as a folk-leaning singer/songwriter. Since then, she's expanded her sonic palette to a more electronic-tinged pop soundscape, which was met with overwhelming praise and over a million monthly listeners on Spotify.
In "Drive Me Home," we witness Pennell truly coming into her own with an established signature sound, honest and vulnerable songwriting, and an illustrative video to match. The video features various depictions of couples reveling in the pure joy of time spent together, cut with Pennell's chromatic scenes of dancing and singing.
Caroline shared on the making of "Drive Me Home,"
“‘Drive Me Home’ was one of the first songs I wrote when I first moved to LA, so it came from a place of total homesickness. Growing up on the other side of the country and leaving everyone I loved back there to build a new life over here was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Writing this love song to them helped me through that transition. At the core, the song is really just about home in the truest sense, and the people who give you that sense of comfort even when you’re thousands of miles away.”
“Drive Me Home" will be included on Pennell's upcoming debut album, out early next year. In the meantime, your first look at the music video is below:
