Say hello to The Greeting Committee: a group of close-knit high school friends whose Meeting People Is Easy EP was recently released on Harvest Records (Glass Animals, BANKS).
In their second offering, the young band from Kansas City combines honest lyrics with lead singer/guitarist Addie Sartino’s pure, tender voice and spellbinding harmonies of guitar, bass, drums, and even saxophone. Each track features hypnotizing instrumental breaks that highlight their effortless ability to come together as one. The hard-hitting jam sessions on “Naïve” and “Someone Else” prove this band has a promising career ahead of them. Their harmonies pull you in, and you can’t help but get lost in the music.
The Greeting Committee’s self-released debut EP, It’s Not All That Bad, caught the ear of local radio personality Lazlo Geiger in 2015, who propelled them into the indie spotlight. In just a few short years, the group (comprised of Addie, guitarist Brandon Yangmi, bassist Pierce Turcotte, and drummer Austin Fraser) went from playing their first live set at their high school’s talent show to signing a record deal with Harvest Records. They’ve enjoyed playing the stages of festivals like Lollapalooza and SXSW for thousands of fans, and opening on tours for KITTEN, Saint Motel, The Mowgli’s, and Tennis.
