April 17, 2014 As Glass Animals near their debut album ZABA's June release date, they continue to slip us seductive little peeks of what's to come. Their latest offering is "Pools." Set in a breezy, balmy jungle of R&B and synthesizer-kissed pop, listen below, and read our interview with Glass Animals here.
April 17, 2014 Sky Ferreira's bad, but - more like in a Michael Jackson way than for all the drugs she's been slandered for doing.
April 17, 2014 If you're in the market for a song that makes you feel like you’re driving down a long stretch of desert highway in the middle of summer, you've got to check out The Districts' new track. The small-town Pennsylvania natives (who will be playing Lollapolooza and Outside Lands this summer) have a new song "Funeral Beds" that mixes a little of the Lumineers with a little Neil Young. Learn more about the band here and stream the song below:
April 16, 2014 We're still giddy over TDE leading lady SZA's impressive debut that dropped last week. And then a new video came along.
April 16, 2014 Everybody, drop everything. Twin Shadow's gone Michael Bolton on us with a total destroyer of glory pop anthems.
April 16, 2014 Years before forming an unconventionally modish new wave disco group, 23-year-olds Sean Guerin and Isaac Franco met while skateboarding at Hoover, a public high school in Glendale, California where Franco once took a hip-hop producing course. So the story goes.
April 15, 2014 (photo: Parker Roberts) Usually when you hear the blood-curdling scream of a young girl, screaming back isn’t your first instinct. But that’s because you aren’t at a show for one of the biggest up and coming pop bands on the music scene today. When Luke, Calum, Michael, and Ashton of 5 Seconds of Summer popped into The Wiltern in downtown Los Angeles for the second show of their sold out tour, we were greeted by a plethora of tears, waist-tied-flannels, and palm-glued camera phones. And security guards breaking up fights. But somehow, that wasn't the most surprising part. We were front and center for the show in a room full of people who screamed at the sign of any movement on stage. But nothing could prepare us for the moment the Australian natives stepped into view. The crowd erupted into ear drum shattering screams as the band slipped through flashing lights and fog and had the entire crowd clapping along within the first 10 seconds. And the energy only went up from there. Their cover of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream had every girl thanking God they'd remembered to wear their skin tight jeans. Bras were thrown and underwear flung and not a single pair of feet stopped dancing. And the craziest part? The band has released a total of 5 songs in the US. 5SOS released their first US EP "She Looks So Perfect" on April 1st of this year. Check out their first single here: So maybe we'll never really get rid of that ringing in our ears, but we could care less. Because nothing compares to the feeling of being in a room with 1,000 people who are shamelessly passionate about the music they love. Call them annoying fangirls if you want, because they won't hear you over the screams anyway. And we'll be too busy dancing our asses off and falling even more in love with 5 Seconds of Summer.
April 14, 2014 Keep on preaching how disillusioned and skill-less the twentysomethings are, but when you come up for air, listen to what the ones born after 1995 are up to.
