NOTD, pronounced "noted," first became popular for their official remixes before releasing original music. After reworking for the likes of Demi Lovato, Ed Sheeran, and Shawn Mendes, they recently found success with their single, "I Wanna Know," which garnered over 200 million global streams and earned them platinum status in Sweden, Australia, Canada and Norway. The duo's collaboration with Tove Styrke for "Been There Done That" is a monumental match, and one that we hope to hear more from.
Styrke is making major waves herself, having opened for Katy Perry and Lorde and looking toward a North American & UK headline tour kick off in September. Her recent album Sway received high praise across the board as well. NOTD's latest collaboration with the pop star is a summery delight with upbeat production and full focus on Styrke's vocals.
All hailing from Sweden, NOTD and Tove Styrke share a specific connection that comes across in their musical chemistry. The single is remarkably playlist-able but the video is the cherry on top, featuring the three dancing around Stockholm and drinking milkshakes.
Directed by HenkeGuztav, the video has a vintage vibe and VHS lyric font to match. Styrke spends a lot of the video waiting at a diner for someone, getting excuse after excuse via text as to why they can't make it. She breaks out on the streets of Stockholm with NOTD and lets her hair down, all the while asking, "Do you know what it's like waiting for ya?" Styrke commented on the making of the video, saying,
"Shooting the lyric video was such a cute day. Me and the guys just hung out all around Stockholm with Henke, the director, and a camera. I drank so much milkshake, I will never hear this song again without thinking of milkshakes!"
NOTD shared their excitement as well, saying,
"When we came up with the direction of the single artwork, we knew we wanted to keep that vibe for all content around the song. So we sat with the lyric video director, Henke Guztav (aka legend), and he helped bring this vision to life. We really hope everyone digs the vibe"
Give the video for "Been There Done That" a watch, and be on the lookout for Tove Styrke and NOTD shows near you.
