Following on the tails of his single “Direction” and an intimate performance at Winston House in his hometown Los Angeles, singer-songwriter and producer Shoffy releases yet another head-bopping single. “Cool Again” is an upbeat, catchy, electronic-R&B-pop combination that features Sam Farrar of Maroon 5.
Shoffy shared with us the creative process of writing and producing the song,
“In terms of the creative process, it was very collaborative, and had a great time getting in with Sam Farrar and Jake Torrey [songwriter]. We really clicked, and this was the first song we all did together. Something unique about it is the piano sound - we taped the strings of an upright piano and the end result is this plucky almost otherworldly guitar sound. You can hear that in the song pretty much from start to finish.”
“Cool Again” highlights both Shoffy’s exemplary vocals and impressive production skills. With an infectious beat, memorable lyrics, and a unique piano melody, the track paints a picture of a relationship that has fallen apart and it might “take a little longer for [the two individuals] to be cool again.” Simply put, this track is fire.
Shoffy emerged in the electro-R&B music scene back in 2016 with his viral hit “Takes My Body Higher,” featuring Lincoln Jesser. In 2017, he sold-out a 10-city U.S. tour, packing venues such as Mercury Lounge in New York City and The Bootleg Theatre in Los Angeles. He also shared the stage with AC Slater at Coachella 2018 to perform their hit song “Taking Off.”
“Cool Again” will be featured on Shoffy’s debut album, Lenses, which is set to be released in later this fall. Until then, playing “Cool Again” again on repeat will certainly do the trick.
