In 2017, rising Bay Area rapper Saweetie dropped some cold bars over the beat from Khia's "My Neck, My Back," gracing the world with the single that would come to be "ICY GIRL." Little did she and the world know, that single would become a knockout viral hit and launch Saweetie into the arena of hip-hop stardom.
Since the viral success of "ICY GIRL," Saweetie has continued to deliver on her early promise. From the standout debut album High Maintenance, to linking up with London On Da Track, G-Eazy, and Rich The Kid on "Up Now," to an unexpected collaboration with UK indie pop artist Zak Abel, Saweetie has proven to be so much more than a one-hit wonder.
With 2018 signifying a promising new voice in the rap game, you just know we had to do something special to celebrate the future icy queen of hip-hop. We brought the Bay Area down to LA for a night of '90s-reminiscent hip-hop, as Saweetie brought her impeccable flow to an electrifying live performance at the infamous Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
