Song of the Day: Cassorla - "Bona Fide"

Sometimes, a simple hook is all it takes to make you fall for a song. Such a hook is what musician Ben Cassorla delivers on his modestly giddy new track, “Bona Fide.” From the get-go, Cassorla - who checks touring guitarist for Slick Rick and Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros as his former occupations - gets you with his guitar’s chirp, a simple yet charming twiddle that proceeds strong throughout the song. On further investigation, we hear tinges of jazz smoothly blending in and fixing themselves throughout the arrangement, partly courtesy of Aubrey Plaza - who can be heard guesting on the saxophone (she’s best known for her role as goth-y April in NBC’s hit sitcom Parks and Recreaction). This track comes from Cassorla’s upcoming EP, Amigos, due out next month.
