Song of the Day: London Grammar - "Everywhere You Go"

This year, British trio London Grammar caught the world’s ears with their song “Wasting My Young Years,” a spacious track featuring a luscious landscape of piano and electronic beats behind singer Hannah Reid’s powerful lilt.

Their debut album, If You Wait, that followed in September was an equally grand effort characterized by minimal electronic scoring at its best. Our song of the day is a recently unearthed gem from the group’s early days that shows off a completely different side. The most striking part of this acoustic number is that against unplugged bongo drums and a plain-spoken guitar, Reid’s voice uncannily resembles that of Joni Mitchell’s - a comparison that never struck us before when it was running before electronic accompaniment.
