What began as a lo-fi electro duo in Boston, Mass., has blossomed into a five-piece synth pop orchestra. New England band Magic Man polishes its triumphant, dance-rock sound on its debut album "Before the Waves." The quintet, which recently toured with fellow Ones To Watch artist New Politics, has been steadily climbing Billboard's Emerging Artist chart among the top 10 most-shared artists on Twitter in a 24-hour cycle. The LP is the band's second full release, following their five-track EP, "Real Life Color" released more than four years ago. Before the Waves, released via Columbia Records, was produced by Alex Aldi, who has also worked with similar acts Passion Pit and Holy Ghost!. Comparisons to those bands are apt, as Magic Man aims for similar soaring, majestic electronic dance numbers and reaches those same heights with its dreamy depth of sound in singles "Paris" and "Out of My Mind."
