Without question, Jessie Reyez is celebrating her Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year in the best way possible: connecting with fellow Toronto-based artist Daniel Caesar for a new version of her biggest song to date. One night after strutting the red carpet with her award held high, Reyez dropped the song "Figures, a Reprise," mixed with Caesar's new verse to complete the story.
The stripped-down, acoustic production serves as a wonderful backing for the duo, as they each sing of a troubled love that keeps them coming back for more, even when it's all wrong. After trading verses, Reyez and Caesar display beautiful chemistry as they combine on the second chorus, complimenting each other's vocal range to uncover fresh harmonies.
Daniel Caesar was also present at the 2018 Juno Awards, taking home the prize for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year on the strength of his majestic Freudian album. The two hit the awards show stage together to premiere the new song, as Caesar snuck out of the choir to lend his vocals and amaze the Canadian crowd. "Figures, a Reprise" marks their first official collaboration, and hopefully won't be the last time the two burgeoning stars connect on a song, as they continue to take their careers to new heights.
