The Week In OTW: April 1

On repeat

Producer with the subliminal croon How To Dress Well has a new album coming out this June (!) He’s given us a glimpse into it with the track “Repeat Pleasure,” which we’ve been shivering over since we first heard it.

Our friends Duologue have a new EP, Memex, out and it sounds, incredibly, like Bon Iver at one point. We repeat: DUOLOGUE HAS NEW MUSIC! And it’s great.

Ryan Hemsworth’s new mixtape

LISTEN TO THIS ON HEADPHONES WHEN YOU’RE ZOOTED ON A GREYHOUND BUS HEADING HOME THINKING ABOUT HER PERFECT FACE.”

Now we can get rid of that embarrassing Goo Goo Dolls/Rascal Flats/T.Swift Spotify playlist we typically use for that purpose.

Show of the week

Kelela brought her gloriously raw emotional (and vocal) range and cutting, tripped out beats (courtesy of Total Freedom), for two sold out nights in Los Angeles this week. The L.A.-based singer played the most of her Cut 4 Me mixtape plus an additional few new tracks. She was giddy and expressed gratitude for her first ever “Kelela” crowd - making her shine even more in our eyes.

Hang of the week

We hung out with Ones To Watch alum twenty one pilots in their last five minutes backstage before showtime. Check out the video below

Interview of the week

Glass AnimalsWhere in the world do you find a band that messes with street hop and can simultaneously take you to wild, off-the-map jungles with their music? You go to Austin for SXSW and meet them by the river for an interview.

Tangent/rant of the week

The band Royal Canoe. We haven’t been this ecstatic about garage rock since 7th grade/Weezer. The Canadian band made an excellent single off their new album (also super fun) that’s fully stocked with pure, plucky DIY hooks that we love.
