A fair bit of warning: The following pictures you are about to see are absolutely breathtaking. When we ask a band or artist to do a Tour Diary series, we are fully prepared for whatever antics or mischief we may witness. Yet, when electro-pop trio SHAED sent us over the following behind-the-scenes look into their recent tour with X Ambassadors, we certainly didn’t expect a series of captivating black and white photos that beautifully portrayed the intimacy of touring life. The stunning photos have us not only memorized but all the more excited for the DC-based trio’s upcoming EP, Melt, due out July 27.
Without further delay, we proudly present SHAED’s Tour Diary aka the reason why they say “a picture is worth a 1000 words.”
A fairC, Utah - This is from the first night of tour. We were all feeling a little sick so we were overdosing on chamomile tea.
Sausalito, CA - We had an off day so we decided to stay with Max and Spencer’s brother Winston. We spent the day exploring and then went down to the beach to watch the sunset. It was perfect.
Nebraska - We drove through Nebraska to get to SLC. It went from being green and sunny to snowy within minutes. We stopped the van to have a snowball fight.
Seattle, WA - We stayed with friends and discovered they had a basketball hoop. Max and Spencer spent the morning out there before we hit the road.
Seattle, WA - Working on a new song in the green room.
Dolan Springs, AZ - We took a three-mile hike down to the Colorado River where we jumped off cliffs, swam in the hot springs, and almost died of heat exhaustion ;)
Phoenix, AZ - Our pre-show ritual - jumping and dancing.
Houston, TX - Trying to stay cool after sound check. This felt like the hottest day of tour.
Phoenix, AZ - This was one of our favorite shows. The energy from the crowd was incredible.
Nevada - On Mother’s Day, we had breakfast at an amazing cafe in the middle of nowhere. The owner gave every woman in the restaurant a rose.
