Union Station Summer Concerts Spotlight: Fancy Hagood

Fancy Hagood (formerly known as Who Is Fancy) has made exceptionally noteworthy strides in a relatively short time. His debut single, “Goodbye,” charted on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 before he had even revealed his identity. His second single, “Boys Like You,” featured pop majors Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor, and he opened for both Grande and Trainor on their 2015 national tours. Over time, he’s gained national fame for his urban/pop songwriting and it’s only uphill from here.

Ones To Watch is honored to present Fancy Hagood, along with Fletcher, Falls, and DJ Bad Ash at our August 13 Summer Concert Series at Union Station Los Angeles. Ahead of his performance, we got the scoop (a very comical one) from Fancy himself–read more below.

OTW: Stoked to have you as part of our concert series! What can we expect at that performance?

FH: First off, thank you so much for having me! You can expect all brand new music that is fun, upbeat, sexual pop madness!

OTW: Why the transition from Who Is Fancy To Fancy Hagood? What does the word “fancy” mean to you personally?

FH: I’m making the transition because ultimately fancy is just who I am…I feel like Who Is Fancy served its purpose and now it’s time for me to go to the next stage of my career…and that’s to show people who I am–Fancy Hagood. Fancy to me is just how I feel about myself. It’s not the literal definition…it’s just about me accepting myself.

OTW: What set you on the musical path?

FH: I sang before I spoke, if you ask my parents! Music has always been my passion. From day 1.

OTW: What has been the most defining moment in your career thus far?

FH: I think getting to sing with artists like Meghan Trainor and Ariana Grande on Dancing With The Stars was a defining moment. Getting to stand beside such powerful voices and realizing I can hold my own…..was a surreal experience! I have mad mad love for those two!

OTW: In one word, what makes you unique as an artist?

FH: Just one? Fearless.

OTW: What was it like working w/ Ariana Grande & Meghan Trainor? Are there more collaborations like that in store?

FH: Working with those two changed my life! They are incredible artists and even better friends! I would like to say yes…more collabs could be in the pipeline. But you never know!

OTW: Who are 3 artists on your Ones To Watch list & why?

FH: I’m obsessed with Lucie Silvas, Wrabel, and Parson James! All good friends of mine that sing their asses off!

OTW: What’s up next for Fancy Hagood?

FH: Hopefully breakfast! Hahaha kidding…world domination is the plan I think!

OTW: Anything else you’d like to share w/ fans?

FH: I’m just thankful for everyone that has been so patiently waiting for new music and I’m thrilled to say it is indeed on its way!
