Durham musical duo Sylvan Esso are both the bold paints that sit inside a tube and the stark white canvas that awaits them: the magic occurs in the simple moment of action. The recent, chance-induced collaboration between the cinnamon-voiced Amelia Meath and eclectic producer Nick Sanborn (Made of Oak) has produced a collection of songs smooth as cream peppered with the exotic spices of faraway worlds. They’ve perked ears far and wide to their ambiguously singular project: most recently, the band has been seen opening for Foster the People and on the bill for My Morning Jacket’s One Big Holiday in Mexico. See them gracing the stages of Seattle radio station KEXP’s live studio in our video of the day, and find Sylvan Esso tour dates here.
