North London born Zak Abel has just released the colorful video for the first single off his debut album Only When We're Naked, due February 3.
The video moves through the ebb and flow of 20-somethings in love in Cape Town–skateboarding about and embracing the fluctuations of friendship and love. We witness Abel and other lovely young people in their happiness and in their sadness, a keynote feature to the transparency of his new album.
Abel, a self-proclaimed mix "between Antonio Banderas and Alan Partridge" according to his Instagram bio, commented on his Facebook, "This album is about all types of being naked. It's about how vulnerable we all are."
A harmonious blend of pop and soul runs through his solo releases, as well as through past collaborations with the likes of Kaytranada and SG Lewis. Citing Michael Jackson, Al Green and Bill Withers as influences, Abel maintains a fresh brand of soul with modern electronic sounds injected into nostalgic '50s vocals.
Stay tuned for Only When We're Naked out this Friday!
