UMI Lets Her Inner Child Run Free in  "whatever u like"

As time moves through us, the weight of figuring life out can disconnect us from the truths that play is productive, curiosity is meant to be satiated, and that our inner children never died; they just have facial hair and social anxiety now. An ode to reviving our sense of youth, UMI's latest single "whatever u like" is a kiss to the soul and gentle permission to set ourselves free.

Paired with a visual that's just as ethereal as the track itself, the Seattle native continuously proves herself to be a fairytale embodied. UMI's music is medicinal, dripping with intention and vibrating at the highest of frequencies. "whatever u like" was designed to be a love letter to the kids that live within us, to the parts of ourselves longing to be liberated and boundless.

It's the second single released from her upcoming debut album, Forest in the City, set to release May 27. The timing couldn't be more impeccable, with summertime and a collective boost of morale peeking over the horizon. "whatever u like" is the perfect soundtrack for sunnier days and minimal responsibility.

While the lyrics explore navigating a love so sweet you're too afraid to jinx it by feeling it, the track itself couldn't be lighter. Featuring production from Nasaya, Veronica Vera, and Danny Parlay, it's a sigh of relief to listen to a song so easy and effortless.

As an artist with the inability to be anything other than her luminous self, UMI's art is simply an extension of her very being. She lives the truth her music teaches, which is that sometimes, your skin needs wind, your stomach needs laughter, and your inner child just needs to play.
