Born in the storied Cabrini-Green projects of Chicago, music became an outlet at a young age for SG ALI. At just 10 years old, the housing projects that raised her were being torn down one by one. Homes were being taken away from her community and, when it was her building's turn, she was left to move to the west side of Chicago. From then on, she and her mother, sister, brother, and grandfather bounced around various houses throughout Chicago, struggling to maintain a steady place to live for more than a year at a time. As things got tougher, she began to take music more seriously, finding solace in being able to speak for one of Chicago's most notorious and dangerous neighborhoods. Growing up in the white buildings but spending time in the red, ALI put the entirety of Cabrini-Green on her back. With the 2019 release of her song "All The Smoke," she generated a buzz in Chicago proving her merit, even catching the attention of solidified, Sacramento rapper, Mozzy, who jumped on her bubbling street single, "Wicked." Now, the 22 year old rapper is introducing herself to the world as she releases new music with melodies that draw from raw emotion and bring her Chicago tales to life.
