Dora Jar Sets Herself Apart as an Avant-Garde Pop Star in the Making

Dora Jar is a budding pop phenom whose music readily strays conventions, jumping from infectious hook one moment to what seems like skittering free association the next. It is a relentless talent for experimentation and self-expression that the New York-born and California-raised artist honed in her debut EP, Digital Meadow, released earlier this year.
Throughout Digital Meadow's seven tracks, from the spacey avant-garde folk of the aptly titled "Opening" to the '90s indie rock - evoking "Voice in the Darkness," Dora Jar supplants the notion of a different sort of superstar - a star whose fame is not constrained by passing fads or ideas of success but defined by a salient lasting power, irrefutably bright and ever-present. All of this and more is further cemented on "Polly," a standout moment from her debut EP.
"Polly" is a track that flirts with the idea of radio-ready pop hooks and choruses while deftly establishing itself as a creative outlier, brimming with an unbridled euphoria. The result is an earworm of a track that makes you believe Dora Jar truly is invincible every time she shouts the words into the air. The accompanying music video sees Dora Jar firmly in her element, embracing one fantastic idea after another.
