Erica Cody Gets "Back to Basics" on Enviable R&B Slowburn

No one is perfect. We have faults and flaws, signs of wear and burden that bring us to the light of humanity. Often mapped on our face and in our eyes, our natural weathering of life's clutter and dramas humanizes us, making us seem approachable, understanding, and relatable. To be able to convey that but to be crafted from a vision of mesmerizing talent, charisma, and statue is a blessing few possess.

Erica Cody, a sharp vocal talent hailing from Dublin, Ireland, is an artist who can suppress her stupendous talents, suspend them possibly, just long enough for her craft and storytelling to overwhelm you. The intricacies of her lyrics, her soft, nearly-whispered blows are honest and appealing, especially on "Back to Basics," a single steeped in '90s R&B traditions. The single revolves around filtering out all the noise surrounding an infatuation, finding confidence as a woman and thriving because of it.

"Nothing needs to be complicated when you can keep it simple. Love can be complicated but only if we make it that way. When you take it back to basics and ignore the outside noise that's when it works best," shares Erica.

A prelude to her upcoming EP, this single hints at ambitions yet realized. "Back to Basics" is a taste of the music to come, a subtle, slow boil to bring you to a romantic R&B stupor.
