Nessa Barrett's rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric. The influencer and artist epitomizes a new wave of multi-hyphenates, where viral moments stand alongside cathartic, infectious, and radio-ready hits. Such is the case on Nessa's latest single, "i hope ur miserable until ur dead," a track more than ready to cement the rapidly rising star as the next vicious pop-punk star.

"i hope ur miserable until ur dead" is about as visceral a title as they come, and Nessa makes good on the unstated promise of a cutthroat earworm. The succinct song packs a punch, reveling in its pettiness and emerging as an anthem for anyone who just isn't looking to forgive and forget. "I hope you never fall in love again / I hope you be yourself and lose your friends / I hope they call you out for shit you said / I hope you're miserable until you're dead," sings Nessa with an intoxicating disregard that soon gives way to an electrifying alternative-fueled breakdown.

"'i hope ur miserable until ur dead' is the anger you hold inside when people betray you - when people hurt you so bad and you unapologetically hope they get what they deserve," shares Nessa on the new single. Released alongside a music video that captures all the gloriously horrific camp of Jennifer's Body, "i hope ur miserable until ur dead" is a sign of what's to come when her debut EP, Pretty Poison,  releases September 10.
