Four-piece Los Angeles alt-rock group SLUGS deliver new single "Super Sane." The warm and hazy indie tune has an undercurrent of complex emotions. The song narrates both welcoming a newborn and saying goodbye to a loved one, touching on contradictory feelings of celebration and mourning. There's nothing more difficult than struggling through internal pain and battling the outside world whilst telling yourself you're 'fine'. Sometimes it’s hard to be happy when you’re sad and vice versa, but don’t worry, “Super Sane” will resonate with you and relieve you from your isolation of frustration and confusion. It's a sonic snuggle of acceptance and finding peace.
Crystal clear, soft, intimate vocals will brush your ears like delicate white feathers. The lyrics "one was born, and one died" says it as it is; the honesty and numbness throughout the lyricism and vocals are beautiful, along with warm, dreamy lower harmonies that have an air of sombre.
SLUGS' lead singer and guitarist Marissa Longstreet shares, "I was celebrating the birth of a new life and mourning the loss of someone who didn't feel gone yet. I wrote this while processing that conflict - trying to convince myself and others "I feel fine" while unravelling."
"Super Sane" is the perfect chill tune that will have your eyes tearing but your face smiling, a delicate delight that packs a punch of powerful emotions.
