Tierra Whack Proves  'Whack World' Was More Than Chance Success  With "Only Child"

If you have yet to hear the name Tierra Whack, you easily missed out one of the most noteworthy album drops of 2018. The Philadelphia native's multifaceted debut album Whack World saw Whack release a 15-minute album comprised of 15 one-minute tracks, each accompanied by their own music video. The transcendent release of Whack World earned a GRAMMY-nomination and launched the Philadelphia rapper into hip-hop's public consciousness, and with the release of a brand new single, she shows no signs of slowing down.

"Only Child" marks the first new music from Whack since the release of Whack World and see her foregoing the bite-sized offerings of her debut in favor of four-minute single dripping with lyrical and musical dexterity. Swaying between soulful inquiry and nimble and quick-witted bars, Whack illustrates the depth of the early promise she originally flexed on her succinct yet sprawling debut. The Philadelphia artist is without a doubt one-woman force who can croon and spit fire with the best of them.

Inside the varied walls that make up Whack's impressive new single, you will find a lot more than a lyrical slight to all those out there who act like they were raised as the only child. Atop the tranquil steady-moving production, Whack also finds the time to take shots at Donald Trump and any man out there who is not already a feminist, rapping, "All men should be feminists, Donald Trump fucks immigrants."  

"Only Child" puts to bed any lingering questions as to whether Whack had only by chance struck gold with Whack World. This is an artist ready to deliver gold and spit fire on every one of her releases.
