GAZAL is an Australian/Lebanese alt-pop artist whose emotionally charged, fearless songwriting transforms vulnerability into power, carving out space for women to be loud, complex and uncontained. Her music sounds like Lebanese heat, DIY edge and art-school chaos, all cooked down into moments of real emotional clarity, a through line of whimsical vocals, hip hop influence and Lebanese sass running underneath a sound that blends Florence & The Machine, FKA Twigs and Doechii. Like Kate Bush and Doechii met in Beirut, it moves fluidly between intimacy and propulsion, built for both club rooms and festival stages. Commanding live shows have quickly marked her as a standout new voice, recently jumping off Nilüfer Yanya’s (UK) sold out Australian tour as she continues to build momentum on and off the stage.
Behind the scenes, GAZAL is a prolific songwriter, collaborating internationally with producers and writers including Aidan Hogg (Sofia Isella, G Flip), Drew Pearson (Kesha, Phillip Phillips), Dan Gleyzer (SZA, Sabrina Carpenter) and Dandelion (Lewis Capaldi), with cuts alongside grentperez, George Alice, Vera Blue and Taemin. Writing across genres for other artists, from alt-pop to Hip Hop, has only sharpened her instincts for her own project. What reaches the public is chosen with precision, out of hundreds of demos, each body of work built around a single feeling, a moment in time, a problem she’s working through in real life.
Online, GAZAL’s music has amassed over 15 million views on TikTok, alongside global editorial support including New Music Friday across Australia, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Denmark, and cover placements on Spotify’s Fresh Finds AU & NZ and Fresh Finds Global. Her most recent EP, Gods Into Frauds, landed across these playlists, cementing her growing international reach, following 2023’s I Accidentally Burnt The House Down.
Featured in Rolling Stone and The Fashion Journal, and a regular presence on Triple J, GAZAL has been praised as one of the country’s most adventurous and interesting pop music makers, with Triple J highlighting her perfectly wound tension and release. Her next single “Onion” drops 30th July, with new EP How’d a Woman Fly landing in October (unannounced). With Rolling Stone x Mentos naming her Class of ’26, this is the year people figure out what GAZAL really has to offer.
